Food

Bruce’s Ocean Café, situated beside two famous surf breaks and Granny’s pool in St Francis Bay offers open air, friendly beach style daytime dinning. It is family and dog friendly. The food is simple and appetising, just what is required after a morning in the sun and sand.

The menu consists mainly of breakfasts and simple café fare, with a daily specials board that includes some hearty soups in the winter months. Their toasties and croissants are popular menu items. The bacon is always crisp and they are satisfyingly generous with the fillings.

For those with a sweet tooth the chocolate brownies as well as the date balls come highly recommended. For summer days there is a variety of delicious ice-cream flavours or soft-serve to cool the heat, try the Honey and Almond Frozen Yoghurt or Kinder Creme. The food is presented without frills and can be ordered as takeaways. There are vegan items and gluten free options on the menu.

Drinks

No alcohol is allowed, however there is good coffee, smooth milkshakes and fresh regionally sourced orange juice on offer.

Beverages are served mostly in recyclable cups, which allows them to be taken onto the beach.

Service

Nicky, and her all women crew of lovely ladies are friendly, pleasant, and obliging. Food and drinks are ordered at the counter and brought to the table.

As the kitchen is small when the café is busy there maybe a small waiting time but the staff do their best to minimise delays. Covid protocols are in place with all staff wearing masks and sanitizer available at the entrance and in the bathroom.

Ambience

Bruce’s is a sit and savour the time eatery. It is a popular early morning coffee spot for locals and surfers. During the mid-morning and over lunch groups of all ages can be found enjoying the tasty fare and ambiance while chatting up a storm.

Over weekends and holiday periods the café is filled with families. Seating is predominantly outside on a covered patio, which means that dinners have to take the weather into account some days.

There is limited inside seating with a small fireplace to keep out the winter chills. A meal there is a delight. Last but not least the view is just stunning and one leaves refreshed with a happy heart.
