This year Restaurant Mosaic at The Orient celebrates a decade since its opening. It’s been a great year for the restaurant, scooping a load of international accolades and taking the number five spot in Top 10 of this year’s Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards, the only Gauteng restaurant to make the cut.

The restaurant has appeared in the 20 nominees and Top 10 lists for the past eight years, with chef Chantel Dartnall taking home the Chef of the Year twice – in 2009 and 2014. In celebration of the 10-year anniversary, the team has remodelled the restaurant interior, adding additional historical art-nouveau detail and a fresh new approach to the existing décor and design. The new look features glass tableware and unique tiles by Retief van Wyk, and a re-design of the Champagne Bar by David Muirhead.

Chantel remains as passionate as ever: “As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, I look back upon some of my most memorable dishes and moments. It has been a journey of both growth and harmony – a beautiful symphony that is unique to Mosaic.”
