Are you a passionate foodie and writer who’s on the pulse of the South African culinary scene? We’re calling on food writers and reviewers to join our team of food critics and help us find the very best in fine dining and casual eating.
Currently, our panel includes a diverse range of food-loving experts – seasoned journalists, food bloggers, food writers, trained chefs, caterers, lecturers and former restaurateurs. If that sounds like you, please get in touch. We want to broaden our panel to be able to reach even more restaurants and cover even more foodie ground across the country.
You’ll be letting us know about any interesting restaurant finds in your area, pitching feature ideas to be published on our platforms and, of course, eating out a bunch.
Eat Out guards its credibility and ethics fiercely. Critics dine unannounced and anonymously, and pay for their meals in full. It’s vitally important that you as a reviewer have the exact same experience as any other diner might have – no special treatment.
You may not tell a restaurant that you are reviewing it for Eat Out, and you may not accept any freebies.
While we may write stories on media events, we do not write reviews based on freebies, invitations or openings.
We also never accept payment in return for reviews.
This is not a full-time position – we want you to be free to go about finding all those new eateries and must-try meals!
Then send an example of your food writing or a review, along with a brief bio outlining your foodie credentials, to critics@eatout.co.za. We’d love to hear from you.
