It’s a high-stakes game when it comes to pizza, and this year’s Col’Cacchio Celebrity Chef Showdown is proving to be, hands down, the biggest and most exciting yet.

Following 10 successful years and over 2 million rand raised for various charities, the 2019 edition will feature YouTube sensation Suzelle DIY, international celebrity chef Lorna Maseko and rapper Kwesta, who will be taking part with his vibrant daughter Khai Vilakazi.

The three chosen celeb chefs have each created their very own limited edition signature pizza in an effort to raise much-needed funds for The Children’s Hospital Trust.

The pizza line-up

• Spanakopizza: Spinach and tomato base, mozzarella, spinach and feta mix, spring onion, Fior Di Latte mozzarella and a phyllo-pastry crunch.
• Lorna’s D’lite: A Discovery Vitality HealthyDining ‘lite’ pizza with a tomato base, mozzarella, chicken, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, pickled jalapeños and avo. It comes served with a lite salad.
• Kwesta DaKhai: Tomato base with mozzarella, green pepper, onion, Russians, pepperoni and more.

The Celeb Chef pizza range costs R145 each and will be available until 30 November at all Col’Cacchio stores in South Africa and Namibia.

“I am completely thrilled to be participating in this amazing initiative and to be doing it with my daughter Khai has made it even more special,” says Kwesta. “The Kwesta DaKhai is definitely the kind of pizza that we would go for. We wanted to create a signature pizza that would appeal to the masses with the aim to raise as much as we could for the Children’s Hospital Trust, which continues to do such remarkable work.”

“When Col’ Cacchio approached me to be part of this campaign, I jumped at the opportunity,” says Maseko. “Giving back has always been at the core of who I am. Therefore combining the two things I absolutely love – food and giving back – was just a no-brainer! I hope we raise tons of money for the Red Cross Children’s Hospital, because they continue to do amazing work in Cape Town.”
