Who cares about the rain when you can look forward to blazing log fires, gastronomical art and award-winning wines?

The main brand vision of the owners of the Benguela group and its affiliated brands, Penny Streeter OBE and Nick Rea, is to show how fine dining can be accessible to everyone, allowing guests to savour gourmet dishes that are fresh, seasonal and appealing to the eye.

The Benguela Dining group is associated with glamour, gourmands and the ultimate foodie experience. The group has restaurants in Somerset West (Benguela on Main), Sedgefield (Benguela Brasserie & Restaurant) and Hermanus (Benguela Cove Pop-Up).

Benguela on Main is a haven for gourmands, focusing on fresh, local ingredients and taking into account all aspects of dining out. Guests can enjoy executive chef Jean Delport’s delicious interpretation of classical French and English dishes for lunch or dinner. Benguela on Main’s winter promotion makes fine dining accessible with a three-course set menu paired with two glasses of Benguela Cove wine for R310.

Since opening its doors in September 2015, Benguela on Main has received numerous rave reviews and is becoming the fine dining restaurant to visit in Somerset West.

Live music can be enjoyed every Wednesday and Thursday at the Taster, the on-site tasting room, conveniently located upstairs. This state-of-the- art wine experience is home to fine wines from across the world, which have been individually selected by master sommelier Denis Garret.

In keeping with the spirit of #BenguelaGlamour, the Benguela brand stretches into the Garden Route with a lakeside restaurant. Benguela Brasserie & Restaurant, which opened in December 2014, gives visitors along the Garden Route a chance to enjoy fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Peri-peri chicken livers with smoked tomato risotto and origanum beure noisette is a popular dish on the menu and curry nights are a big hit with the locals.
