Meet 29-year-old Nomtha Mhlakane, who joined the Eat Out Food School all the way from the Eastern Cape. She was born in Port Elizabeth, but her hometown is in Peddie, a tiny village just 300km from PE.
Nomtha came to Cape Town because she was offered an opportunity to follow her passion, which is to be a chef and to be versatile in the hospitality industry.
Cooking has always been a passion of hers, from the time she was 11 years old. She has a deep appreciation for whole foods and organic ingredients, and wants nothing more than to continue educating herself on cooking and eating organic whole foods. That’s what she would love to be one day: an organic food chef.
Nomtha has just successfully graduated from her learnership with the Eat Out Food School, completing her practical hours with Ivor Jones at Chef Warehouse Beau Constantia and then Homespun at the Andros under Chef Matt Schreuder and his team.
Thank you to Defy – the future pioneers of young talent – for their passion and commitment towards community upliftment.
Defy have kindly sponsored the students’ accredited curriculum for 2021 and we are so grateful for their kind support.
