Johannesburg is an Italian restaurant richer with the recent opening of the sleek Mangiare at Melrose Arch.
Mangiare (pronounced mun-jar-eh), Italian for "to eat", aims to offer diners an elegant setting in which to enjoy traditional Italian fare, made using "time-honoured Italian recipes" and fresh ingredients.
Headed up by Capetonian chef, Jacques Botha, features on the menu include, white anchovy, tomato, red onion and rocket salad, or tarte tatin with pesto and ricotta, as starters.
Mains include fettuccine with clams, calamari and prawns, or sirloin with Portobello mushroom, tomato and roasted garlic.
Sweet endings include chocolate torte and baked pear with calvados syrup and crème fraiche, and orange blossom crème brûleé.
