The popular Imhoff Farm in the seaside village of Kommetjie offers it all – from crafts and deli delights to camel rides and a snake park. Now, they’ve added a truly authentic seafood restaurant to their list.
Owned and run by Graham Isaacson (the founder of the River Café at Constantia Uitsig and owner of The Blue Water Café, also at Imhoff Farm), The Pickled Fish is housed in one of the oldest buildings at the Imhoff farm. The misshapen walls, reed ceiling and stone floors give the eatery a distinctly farm-like and cosy atmosphere, whilst the limited seating (The Pickled Fish only seats 45 guests) offers intimacy and ambience. Graham ensures that only locally sourced, fresh produce is used in the kitchen. The fish and crayfish are caught from the Kommetjie bay, whilst the herbs and veggies are plucked straight from the farm’s own vegetable garden. He offers a number of traditional South African favourites on the menu, such as pickled yellow tail and smoked snoek, as well as a North African and Southeast Asian twist to some of the dishes. Mussels, prawns, calamari, kingklip and sole abound on the small menu. A specials board offers a number of tasty dishes made with seasonal, sustainable fish and shellfish.
