New cellar-door stunner at Steenberg

Constantia Valleys Steenberg Estate has opened an elegant new eatery, Bistro Sixteen82. This intimate new eatery sports a modern, open-plan interior where industrial touches of glass, concrete and steel sit easily alongside organic accents of wood. Running the food side of things is accomplished chef Brad Ball, who was previously at the helm of the Olympia Café and Constantia Uitsigs River Café.
His seasonal menu includes decadent breakfast offerings such as truffled egg soufflé omelette with white asparagus, but the main focus is on tried-and-tested bistro fare, such as marrowbones on toast and steamed mussels in cream.
Those keen to opt for something lighter can feast on the tasty tapas menu, which offers charcuterie, cheeses, pickles and artisan bread. Complementing the bistro experience is the novel Raw Bar, where guests can tuck into culinary treats of the uncooked variety – think sashimi, gravadlax, ceviche, tartares, carpaccios and oysters. Washing it all down is a selection of Steenbergs top tipples, as well as a specially selected collection of Constantia’s finest.
