My week of pizza, the ocean and cocktails

When last did you bunk work? On Friday, after a stressful week of work and trying to find a new home on top of it all, I took some time out for myself. It was actually all my colleagues’ doing. “Where shall we go? You need a drink,” they said. The Grand in Granger Bay seemed ideal.

We headed straight to the water’s edge where I slumped down onto a white couch. Before long I was sipping on a raspberry vodka and mint daiquiri – pure bliss, warm sun, and funny girl talk. The best part was that no-one knew where I was.

The afternoon led to another two cocktails and a delicious artichoke and anchovy pizza, which was made in an extra-long rectangular shape. And I couldn’t resist trying the mussels, which were cooked in a rich tomato broth, and served with very good hand-cut chips. As we left the sun was going down, the boats had come in closer to pose, corks were popping and the kids were running free as the main restaurant set up tables with silver ice buckets filled with red roses. It was such fun. I highly recommend it for a little me-time! And I get to do this for my job!

Happy eating!
