Matthews Restaurant at the five-star Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club, has just launched a new menu from Executive Chef Warren Frantz.
Originally from Cape Town, Warren says that just the idea of making good food inspires him.
‘Cooking and creating new dishes makes me tick’.
Described as contemporary/classic, the food also features African and Indonesian influences.
Dine on Blue Crunch Salad, Timbale of Marinated Salmon and Teriyaki Prawns, Mokolo Snails, various soups, Grilled Beef Fillet Riviera, Chicken Pot Pie, Slow Cooked Pork Fillet, seafood, Vegetable and White Asparagus Casoulette, Tonka Bean Panna Cotta dessert and the curiously titled Grand South African dessert.
Look out for the winter menu soon too, described as ‘old-fashioned hearty meals with a local twist’.
Matthews Restaurant offers Sunday buffet lunches and a spit-braai every last Sunday of the month.
Enjoy a South African tradition in splendour by indulging in the Spitbraai on Vaal aboard the Petit Verdot Floating Restaurant every Saturday, 12 noon to 3pm at the Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club. Contact Lisa van Tonder on 016 420 1300 to book.
