Eat Out multi-award winner Luke Dale-Roberts has scooped up a sought-after warehouse space in Woodstock’s bustling Old Biscuit Mill to house his newest culinary endeavour.
The Test Kitchen is set to be a creative think-tank where Luke and his team will be exploring the relationship between food and art. Time will be divided between developing exciting new dishes, flavour combinations and designs, and heading up an intimate fine-dining venue with a difference. All that’s on top of his current consultancy role at La Colombe.
In preparation for this new venture, Luke has been collaborating with some of SA’s top designers and artists to bring diners a multi-sensory experience.
“I wanted to put myself into a completely new environment, and take myself out of my comfort zone,” says Luke. “This project is the realisation of a vision that was formed through the many experiences I have had before coming to South Africa, as well as during my time here. I am going to start afresh and look at everything with a keener eye and take more time to enjoy the creative process.”
The Test Kitchen will open November 2010. During the first month of operation Luke will be entertaining exclusive groups of guests offering tailor made dining expeiences on a booking only basis.
