If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love this. On the back of food trends like foams and jellies, here’s one that’s a bit more down to earth – dessert-only restaurants.
So, instead of trotting off to a fancy restaurant for a gourmet dessert and plodding through the starter and the main to get to the best bit, just skip the whole meal and go straight to dessert.
In New York, there’s Chickalicious and Room 4 Dessert, as well as the quirky Kyotofu, which only serves tofu based desserts.
The trend has also caught on Barcelona, home to Espai Sucre, which also has a cooking school, and in Boston, where there’s Finale and Hong Kong’s Hui Lau Shan, which is expanding to San Francisco.
And just in case you are worried about bouncing off the walls from too much sugar, don’t worry, most of these restaurants serve a small savoury menu as well.
