Breast Cancer Awareness Month is around the corner and this is when award-winning food writer and EAT OUT judge Herman Lensing will be spoiling ten women who survived their battle against breast cancer.
Each of them will be treated to a scrumptious Pink Lady confectionary in a brand new series, Herman en die ladies.
In the Pink Lady kitchen conversations will deal with the sweet and sour of life, and life lessons learnt on their cancer journey will be exchanged. There is also a surprise awaiting each one of the women’s remarkable journey to celebrate their victory over cancer.
For Herman, this is his ode to women who fought a brave battle and survived.
“I love women, and to be able to thank them in my own way is the pinnacle of who I am. I am baking something special for them. By doing it, I am saying to them: You know what? You deserve to live a good life. Every woman deserves this. And that is what Herman en die ladies is all about for me.
“There is more to it than meets the eyes when it comes to women, things we don’t notice daily. And this is my way of saying thanks to them.”
Creative producer Loren Greyling describes this project as a little miracle.
“All the pieces came together beautifully. Every member of our creative team either survived breast cancer or lost a dear one to this illness.
“Babette, one of our ten ladies, wrote our theme song. And in her song, she describes it in a touching way – the winter is passing, and this season must also come to an end. Everything happens for a reason.”
“Pink Lady Appels annually launches a breast cancer initiative. It was a privilege for everyone in our creative team to share these 10 women’s remarkable stories. The positive way they tackled their illness and how they embrace every day is an inspiration for all.”
