Golden year for Abigail Donnelly

Eat Out’s very own Abigail Donnelly was honoured with the main prize of the Food Writers’ Award at the prestigious 2008 Galliova Awards. This award is the fourth Galliova for Abigail, who could have been born with a wooden spoon in her mouth. She began her gastronomic journey in her grandmother’s kitchen, creaming butter and sugar using a mixing bowl which she still uses. Runners-up for the award are Vickie de Beer from Rooi Rose, Food & Home and Baba en Kleuter, and Barbara Joubert from Sarie.

Now in their 19th year, the Galliova Awards are presented by the South African Egg Industry to commend excellence in food writing, styling and the overall promotion of South African food culture.

Abigail, along with the team are working on the upcoming ‘gold’ issue of Eat Out – the biggest yet, featuring over 1000 of the best places to eat in South Africa, and revealing the country’s top ten restaurants.
