Bouchard Finlayson vineyards in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley has recently scooped more accolades for their heavenly pinot noir wines.
Winemaker Peter Finlayson received The Bloor Yorkville Wine Festival Award of Excellence in the form of a trophy at a glitzy celeb-chef studded dinner in Toronto, Canada, for his Galpin Peak, Pinot Noir, 2005.
The foodie and wine fest combines the best of both worlds and over 70 well-known international wineries participated this year. A big triumph!
Back in SA, the Galpin Peak Pinot Noir 2005 was lauded again at the Juliet Cullinan Wine Connoisseur’s Awards as the overall winner for 2007.
The Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal 2004 also won top prize in the Unusual Reds category.
This award will start (or continue!) a flurry of media acclaim for Finlayson as it comes with plenty of international exposure, media and sommelier introductions as well as connections to top wineries in France and the UK.
There really seems to be no slowing down for Peter Finlayson as a winemaker of excellence who keeps winning award after award for his wines.
In describing the Galpin Peak, Pinot Noir 2005, Finlayson says it has a delicious harmony of sweet raspberry fruit and soft balanced, perfumed tannins, with a delightful lingering long finish.
Makes you wonder if you should buy some soon, before it all runs out!
