Head down to Col’Cacchio for the Celebrity Chef Series. You can expect inventively moreish pizzas such as Michael Broughton’s Michaelangelo, which practically speaks Italian. It’s piled with figs, potato, garlic butter, braised rocket and Parma ham, and finished off with a drizzle of truffle oil and fresh origanum.
Other chefs flipping the dough include Col’Cacchio’s own Kinga Baranowska, Nicky Gibbs (The Westcliff), Jodi-Ann Pearton (The Food Design Agency), David Higgs (Rust en Vrede), Chantel Dartnall (Restaurant Mosaic) and Franck Dangereux (The Foodbarn).
All the chefs were given a country as a theme and had to create their pizza with it in mind. David Higgs got Mexico – try his fresh, zesty Nacho Libre, which is topped with jerk-spiced chicken, home-style guacamole, tomato salsa, coriander and sour cream.
And the anchovy on top? R5 from every pizza sold goes towards raising funds for the Children’s Hospital Trust, the fund-raising arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. The series will run from April to September 2010.
