The Cape Gourmet Festival’s Grand Gourmet Gallivant at GrandWest Casino is coming up soon – circle May 23 and 24 in your diary. Various eateries in ‘The District’ restaurant area of GrandWest will display their wares for you to taste.

Think of it as a ‘moving feast’ and the opportunity to try gourmet titbits from various eateries. Enjoy live entertainment, great sights and sounds and gourmet food and wines.

Indulge in Indian, Thai or Japanese while buskers, comedians, musicians and singers perform alongside.

Begin at Jackson Hall with a spot of jazz and nibble on some tapas and sip on a cocktail or Johnnie Walker whisky.

Next stop…

Bella Gina
Italian cuisine, with Italian music: Bruschetta with various toppings, mozzarella drizzled with pesto, olive tapenade, Italian sausage, chicken livers, deep fried Halloumi, grilled calamari and assorted slices of gourmet pizzas served with a refreshing Sangria.

The third stop is Cape Town Fish Market
Think sushi, oysters, robata and seafood platters, paired with a selection of wines, and teppenyaki chefs strutting their stuff.

Then it’s over to Squires, for a banquet set for a king
Paired with red and white wines, Squires will provide a feast of flavour with Jalapeno cheese rissoles served with sweet chilli sauce; spinach and feta pies; sticky chicken wings; crispy chicken goujons with spicy pepper jelly; barbeque riblets and sizzling sirloin medallions with gourmet toppings.

Go East to Bukhara
Pink saris, rose petals, incense and the aroma of authentic Indian curries and Naan bread. Experience a Taste of India at Bukhara….this destination needs no introduction.

Journey to the Land of Smiles – Wang Thai
Here you’ll be welcomed Thai style, with a bowl of rose water to cleanse your hands as you prepare to savour chicken satays, prawn spring rolls, duck spring rolls, chicken green curry, beef red curry, chicken cashew nuts with roasted chilli paste and fried kingklip with tom yum sauce.

And the last stop…The Quarterdeck
The Grande Finale – a banquet of decadence and a must for those with a sweet tooth, indulge in a confectionary spread featuring the finest cakes, brownies, rusks and biscotti, paired with Lavazza Coffee.
