If you’re a fan of Bavarian beer culture, you will love the newly opened theme restaurant, Edelweiss Village, at Randburg’s Brightwater Commons.
Think traditional German wurst and of course plenty of beer a la Oktoberfest.
The restaurant is situated in a breathtaking spacious construct featuring plenty of glass and light air, with very contemporary white-themed décor.
The menu features modern Bavarian fare – steckerlfish, Beer Garden sausage salad, Oktoberfest haxn’, roast porkneck, weisswurst, apfelstrudel and wurstsalat.
The venue is perfect for a themed function – weddings, office parties or birthdays – seating up to 700 people! You might want to tweak the menu and enjoy dishes such as Bavarian Guglhupf marinated in Obstler Schnapps or Bavarian Boeflamott of beef in honey-mustard sauce.
Edelweiss is extremely family-friendly, with lots of other events on the menu: watch the Edelweiss Show Express or compete in the Bavarian Olympic Games with games such as beer mug races and yodelling (yes, yodelling) – weekdays from 5pm, excluding Mondays.
Did you know?
The Edelweiss is a mystical flower, with many myths stemming from it in German culture. It only grows high up in the Alpine mountains – many adventurous young men have tried to find one in order to win the hand of their loved one. It has become a symbol of love, luck, tragedy and happiness..
