Warm & Glad in Craighall Park, Johannesburg, has moved into a new home and extended its operating hours to dinnertime. Situated just downstairs from its old space, the revamped restaurant is set to introduce its loyal fans to a brand new Asian-inspired menu for all-day dining.
Also featuring a new kitchen and relaxing outdoor courtyard, the space has moved away from the coffee shop scene and now offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a fine-dining touch. The restaurant will make most menu items in-house, including bread and pastries, pasta, ramen, kimchi, pickles, jams and much more.
Executive Chef Andrew Green has created an exciting dinner menu and a set tasting menu with wine pairings curated by Warm & Glad’s sister wine bar, Ace + Pearl. As of April, the restaurant is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday evenings with a special Ramen Night on Thursdays.
Other exciting menu offerings include breakfasts of smashed avo on toast with lime salt and Sriracha, seared tuna with pickled shiitake and bean sprouts for lunch, and dinners of pork-belly steamed buns, pan-roasted sea bass, and goat’s cheese gnocchi with chopped truffles. If it’s sweet treats that you’re after, Warm & Glad also does a daily afternoon tea from 2pm, serving house-made scones, jam and clotted cream ice cream.
The restaurant will no longer be a coffice and has done away with its WiFi, making it a laptop-free, stress-free zone. The team is, however, in the process of setting up a specific area in the building for those people looking to work on their laptops. Keep your eyes on their Facebook page for updates.
Warm & Glad is open for breakfast and lunch on Monday, and breakfast, lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday until 10.30pm.
Went to Warm and Glad a while back, had their Poke bowl. Word of advice, if you don’t know how to do something, learn how to do it before you decide to do it. What I got was deconstructed sushi, not a Poke bowl.
