The month of August, nationally declared as women’s month, was a sad one for women in South Africa. Amidst frequent and ever-escalating violence against women, The Raptor Room pioneered the “Come in” initiative, which creates a safe space for all women. It’s based on the premise that all women should feel safe on the street.

As a business predominantly run by women, they have opened their hearts and doors in this time of need. The initiative allows for any women – feeling unsafe walking on the street to simply just come inside.

Florida Road restaurants and businesses: The Florida Road UIP has a great effort to monitor the road. “Should you be walking alone and feel something is not quite right you can pop into any shop or restaurant with a display sticker and they’ll help you out whether it’s walking you to your car or assisting with calling a cab.”
