If you find yourself substituting more ingredients than you keep when ordering a pizza, we have good news: Col’Cacchio Holdings, the company behind Col’Cacchio Pizzeria, has announced plans to open a new build-your-own pizza brand.

Called First Base, the restaurants will offer diners the opportunity to design their own pizzas and salads from nearly 40 toppings. The first branch is scheduled to open in December 2015 at The Paddocks Shopping Centre in Milnerton and will follow the ‘fast-casual’ model, with diners ordering and paying upfront, before watching their creations being crafted before their eyes.

For those who would prefer to order off the menu, there are also five signature pizzas and three signature salads, and for dessert, soft serve ice cream with homemade toppings.

“Customers are becoming more aware about what they are eating and fast-casual restaurants provide quality, healthier options at a fair price,” said Michael Terespolsky, managing director of the group. He hopes to differentiate First Base by offering customers the opportunity to order what they want, rather than what the restaurant dictates, along with authentic food, speedy service and sexy décor.
