An initiative lanched by Bill Gallagher in South Africa two years ago, 20 October is now celebrated as International Chefs Day in countries as far afield as Australia, Singapore and Iceland.

On this day chefs from across the globe get involved in social responsibility initiatives in their communities as well as pay tibute to fellow chefs and their families.
