Tucked away in the stylish new St Andrews boutique hotel is a little gem of a restaurant called Trents.
Chef Jacques Botha, who has cooked for President George Bush Snr, Rupert Murdoch, Bryan Ferry and Juliette Binoche (to drop a few famous names), prides himself on serving innovative South African cuisine using organic, seasonal ingredients. Dishes such as grilled ostrich and kudu with red onion marmalade (R125) ensure that diners taste South Africa at its best. Unless you are a guest at the hotel, booking is absolutely essential.
