A group of us popped in at Superette for lunch on a Friday. When we first arrived we were impressed with the cool décor, the ceiling plants, and all the amazing hipsters to stare at. Our excitement soon paled, however, when we tried to talk to each other in the extremely noisy room. (The noise levels did get much more comfortable once the lunchtime crowd had dissipated.) Our drinks arrived in three shifts a few minutes apart - do the waiters not have trays? - and one of us was presented with a lemonade that she hadn't ordered. Upon asking where her ginger beer was, she was informed that it was out of stock, and was not given an opportunity to order something else. The lemonade was very good though. After waiting around to order food, we eventually got the attention of a waitron. The pesto on my chicken and bacon sandwich was barely there, and the homemade aioli was also very scant, leaving the sandwich dismally dry. The bread was deliciously chewy and the bacon was perfectly cooked, but for R60, with no side, the sandwich was rather hard to swallow. This is no doubt a great spot to grab a coffee or lunch if you want to see and be seen, but don't expect service or value for money.
