A group of us popped in at Superette for lunch on a Friday. When we first arrived we were impressed with the cool décor, the ceiling plants, and all the amazing hipsters to stare at. Our excitement soon paled, however, when we tried to talk to each other in the extremely noisy room. (The noise levels did get much more comfortable once the lunchtime crowd had dissipated.) Our drinks arrived in three shifts a few minutes apart - do the waiters not have trays? - and one of us was presented with a lemonade that she hadn't ordered. Upon asking where her ginger beer was, she was informed that it was out of stock, and was not given an opportunity to order something else. The lemonade was very good though. After waiting around to order food, we eventually got the attention of a waitron. The pesto on my chicken and bacon sandwich was barely there, and the homemade aioli was also very scant, leaving the sandwich dismally dry. The bread was deliciously chewy and the bacon was perfectly cooked, but for R60, with no side, the sandwich was rather hard to swallow. This is no doubt a great spot to grab a coffee or lunch if you want to see and be seen, but don't expect service or value for money.

We had the worst experience this morning when we went for breakfast. We were given a menu and then left to decide but when we tried to order the waitress informed us they didnt have quite a few items on the menu because their deliveries hadn't come in. We asked her for a few more minutes to decide on something else. I decided not to have anything else as all my favourites were not available. My boyfriend ordered the French toast. We then tried to order orange juice which they didn't have either. We chatted between the 2 of us how we felt it should have been explained to us when we sat down that they didn't have most of the items but still didn't say anything to the staff. Then a manager came to us and said that he heard we were upset and proceeded to tell us why, in a very defensive manner, why there weren't a lot of items available. But the way he spoke to us, it was as we if we were already angry and shouting at him. He didn't even allow me to get a word in. Then after all that the food took over 30 mins and we had to leave with the breakfast in a takeaway. I dont think we will be back.

One of the best breakfasts ever using fresh, wholesome ingredients sadly paired with some of the most lousy service so far experienced in Cape Town. If you don't mind chasing the staff to get their attention then you'll love this place. I'd go again for the food and vibe but only when I have endless time to spare.

Hands down the yummiest scrambled eggs, rosa tomotoes and bacon breakfast in town! Love this spot!

The most superbly prepared brunch in Cape Town. Always fresh and great portion sizes. Fabulous coffee! The concert can make it a bit too noisy.
