Passion and dedication are the keywords for the owner of the Cleopatra kitchen. Richard's speciality is sauces, a subject very close to his heart. He has long been obsessed with reduction techniques – which allow the full intense flavour of the food to shine through.

    We stayed for 3 nights to celebrate a key birthday. Hotel and restaurant are faultless. Service is personal and attentive without being intrusive. The food is fantastic. Sumptuous, elegant, rich with cream and full of taste. A good cellar includes wine made by the owners’ son-in-law and were a quite worthy inclusion. Definitely stay for more than one night if you can, you will thank me (even though your cholesterol won’t)

    Absolutely amazing weekend. Food was an absolute treat. (I think we will move here permanently!) Staff were so friendly - if I cant stay here I think I will need to take them home with me. Thanks so much!

    Lovely suite, excellent cuisine, the gardens are delightful and rent a dog or 2 for the walks. What more can one want. This is our first SA trip and thank you, we will be back.
