This beautiful hotel is one of our favorites and we’re lucky enough to live nearby and frequent it pretty regularly. We usually sit on the bar side of the veranda and there for opt for food from the new “small plates” menu. The trinchado and the calamari dishes are always, always perfectly prepared and delicious not to mention the picado (steak bites in a pan)! Best food, always on point, service is great too.
Disappointment overload with this grand old lady of twenty five years standing! We treated friends from overseas and found sole and crayfish not on the menu anymore. Horrors! Now the menu reads like any other seafood restaurant. My kingklip was tiny, overpriced and undercooked. Come on guys stand up and deliver all you have now is the venue and the views.

I went to this establishment last Saturday at 18.30 for a table that we had reserved. The maitre d' barely acknowledged us on arrival and hurriedly seated us at a table on the balcony that was blindingly assaulted by sunlight.

Our waiter hurriedly handed us the menu and immediately asked us for a drinks order. I understand that tables are limited and that they want to turnover tables during their peak period, but the level of service was sub par to say the least.

We eventually asked to move tables as the direct sunlight was too much and no umbrella was offered. Once settled, we placed our order for the recommended dishes - calamari and prawns. It was not the worst meal ever, but was soaked in oil/butter.

Overall, not a pleasant experience especially when there are so many seafood restaurants available with much better service and food.

Cape Town's best kept secret. Especially in winter (out of the tourist season), when the fire in the restaurant is lit. Very old-school hotel restaurant vibes. Apart from the excellent seafood, the restaurant also offers great winter specials including hearty curries.
I had a wonderful evening at Chapman's Peak Hotel Restaurant. They have a great wine selection, our waiter, Paul, was friendly and attentive, and the calamari was the best I've had. The only negative would be the prawn starter drenched in sweet-chili sauce, which we found strange. I'm definitely going back for the calamari!
