We were two. We paid R900 for lamb chops really bad and small side salad ( pre cut). The grass fed beef was burnt one one side and bloody on the other. How does anyone get to mess up a good piece of meat, easy you go to a place like The Butcher Shop and Grill. Staff don’t care the manager is and absolute unpleasant bombastic uneducated man. The place looks ok on the surface but ooi! There is NOTHING of quality or value for money. It is a rip off with bad food bad waiters exceptional bad manager. Dirty bathrooms. Sorry there is nothing positive about this place. Don’t waste your money. Cape Town has so much to offer! This place is not an example what Cape Town restaurants offer. If you feel like meat go to Don Armando, go to Carne SA, go to Primal eatery, go to Tasha’s go to Belthazar these place are more value for money and the best meat and experience. They like what they do and do it well. The Butcher Shop and Grill are people that hate what they do and don’t want to be there! Please close down give someone else a chance to run n restaurant not a money making machine.

We had lunch on Sunday 30 July. We got the window table as requested, although the sun does become acute sometimes, but cleverly designed blinds sorts that out. The food was very good. My wife enjoyed the fish and chips, I had the champion sticky ribs and our guest was silent while devouring the lamb chops. All in all a good meal, except for the wine prices. I always have wine by the glass as I like to change and explore their offerings, but here it becomes a very expensive exercise. The service is good, but the waiters can smile a bit more.

On the 25th February 2017, as in many other occasions, my wife, myself and our son went to the Butcher Grill to have an early great dinner with great food and great wine. All in order. We are regulars and we love the place. Not anymore, unfortunately, due to the aggressive and disturbing behavior of Neil, the so-called General Manager, who aggressively kicked me, my wife and my son out of the restaurant in the rudest way possible because, he said, our table was booked for 8pm (it was 8h30pm when the incident took place, and half the restaurant was empty). Considering we have been loyal patrons for 2 years, spending on a regular basis R1400, including tip, for 2 adults and a child, I find extremely disturbing that we are removed from our table in such an aggressive way, considering that, at 20h30, half the restaurant was empty, including the window tables where we were sitting (empty, all of them, what the hell!). Neil, the so-called general manager, after I pointed out how unnecessary his aggressive attitude was, threaten me to be literally kicked out of the restaurant, just like that, regardless of being regular clients, regardless of spending more than a R1000 each time in food and wine, regardless of trying to bring common sense to Neil, the Manager, who has no common sense. It is true that I said his attitude was bullshit. But after being pushed to the limits as patrons, I couldn´t find a better word to describe Neil's attitude. Neil's, the so-called General Manager, attitude is unacceptable and, therefore, after this shockingly unpleasant experience suffered by this character, we will make sure that we will never go back there again, and we will report this to all the expat community so that they are aware of such a disturbing character. I am happy to discuss this matter to any relevant person from the restaurant management, outside Neil, the so-called General Manager, who treated me and my family in such a way. Should we don´t get a formal response and apology for such an unprecedented and disturbing response and behavior from this Neil, I will make sure this incident spreads through the relevant business and personal channels we are involved in.
