Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or a casual explorer, Gauteng’s food markets promise an unforgettable culinary journey with a lively atmosphere.

Fourways Rustic & Gourmet Market (Fourways, Johannesburg)
The eco-friendly Fourways Rustic & Gourmet Market is a monthly market hosted at Rustic Timber Garden Centre in Fourways. Initially launched in July 2023 as a pilot to support, sustain and promote local artisans and sustainable businesses, the market has grown in popularity, especially among the vegan crowd, as all its food vendors only serve freshly prepared or homemade vegetarian and vegan food products. That said, there is a wide variety of delicious grub and baked goodies to choose from, apart from a buzzing bar to keep visitors refreshed. The market also offers unique handmade goods, clothing, crafts and jewellery. Kiddie activities, live music, as well as yoga in the park are also an intrinsic part of the market and the pet-friendly venue welcomes dogs on a leash. The next market will be held on December 3 from 9am to 3pm.

The next market to be held on December 2 will have a Christmas theme, allowing patrons a chance to shop for unique Christmas presents and homemade sweet treats.

Waterfall Market (Midrand, Johannesburg)
The Waterfall Market at Waterfall Park outside Mall of Africa in Midrand is a family-friendly market that takes place every Sunday from 10am to 5pm. The organisers of the market are none other than the team behind the popular Fourways Farmers Market. Offering a fun-filled, curated experience, the market plays host to a number of local artisans selling handmade crafts, organic products, baked goods, as well as a wide range of food options and drinks. Given its location in the park, there are plenty of activities for children in the large play area. Families can also picnic on the lawns or enjoy the delicious food on offer while sitting at one of the communal tables and enjoying the live entertainment and great views of the city.

Halaal Lifestyle Market (Midrand, Johannesburg)
