Zuney Wagyu’s legacy began in 2014, stemming from the Wells and Klopper families’ passion for Wagyu beef. Setting themselves apart, the company guarantees nationwide delivery from their Eastern Cape farm – a feat not matched by many.
“All of our Wagyu cattle are harvested from our own farms, ensuring that we have control of the entire value chain from conception to consumption,” says Henning Klopper. “We sell our meat directly to consumers, ensuring that we deliver our Wagyu to clients at the most competitive price.”
Fans of Zuney Wagyu include South African celebrities and sportspeople like Siv Ngesi and Springbok rugby player Siya Kolisi (who himself hails from the Eastern Cape province).

Heading up the kitchen will be chef Lemar Desamparado whose menu is compact and precise, highlighting the product’s quality and placing it squarely at the forefront, leaving no room for distractions. Chef LBeyond the classics, you can look forward to a ‘Wacon’ cheeseburger and a ‘Wacon’ and egg burger (consisting of Wagyu bacon), all served on a brioche bun with pickles, Wagyu-infused onions, and a house sauce. Vegans will be pleased to know that plant-based burgers are also on offer.
“Our chips will be made in Wagyu tallow instead of oil,” says Henning.
One key feature will be a display fridge in all their outlets, showcasing the Wagyu steaks, biltong, and other products to take home. This approach aligns with their whole carcass model, emphasising minimal waste and a genuine farm-to-table experience.
The restaurant’s ambience will echo the authenticity of its farm-to-table philosophy.
“The look and feel is designed to offer an honest and natural feeling, paying homage to ourselves, our parents, the Wagyu, and our farm,” says Henning.
Set to open in September, Zuney Wagyu Burger Bar’s operating hours will be from 11am to 1am daily, ensuring that a burger is never out of reach.
