The Duchess of Wisbeach

Wednesday, October 5th, 2022

The Duchess is my favorite place to dine in Cape Town. From the moment you walk into the restaurant, you feel at home. This is because all restaurant staff will greet you with a warm smile, and by the second or third time you’ve given the restaurant a visit, they know your name as well as your dietary requirements off the top of their heads. The best way to describe this service and the Duchess staff is their impeccable attention to detail. Also, the home-cooked style dining is my favorite. I go to the Duchess whenever I want good food and can’t bare the thought of cooking at home. It is unpretentious and delicious. The two lovely gentlemen at the bar also sure do know how to make a delicious drink, and have a beautiful selection of wines and cocktails. One of my favorite things about the Duchess is the open-kitchen, and of course all the stylish decor. I like to see who is cooking my food, as it gives a certain sense of gratitude for the hard-working chefs pushing out food for the entire restaurant. The fact that the duchess herself, Theresa Beukes, is in the restaurant every night cooking the dinners and socializing with her lovey guests adds to this restaurants special touch and the reason it feels like a home/family. My favorite nights to visit the duchess are Monday-Wednesday, because of the more relaxed dining experience. The weekends are fun too but in my view, the quieter nights are very special and romantic. Perfect for date night with your lover. All in all, the Duchess is a MUST-visit when in Cape Town. You will never regret it!
