According to SA wine industry body, Vinpro, The South African wine and brandy industry consists of 529 wineries and creates over 269 000 jobs throughout its value chain. South Africa’s numerous alcohol bans have thus severely impacted those in the liquor sector. It’s important to note that wine tourism creates over 36 000 employment opportunities and directly contributes R2.4 billion to South Africa’s GDP.
