Lexi’s is the vegan eatery that Joburgers won’t stop talking about. Headed by the eponymous restaurateur, Lexi Monzeglio, the casual café space is now expanding to Cape Town in a bold move. Not one to shy away from a business opportunity, Lexi has already expanded her business once since the start of the pandemic, opening a second Gauteng store in Pretoria this July.
Eat Out spoke with Lexi about the big move to Cape Town. “It’s a corporate owned store, not a franchise, and we’ll be up and down between the cities to manage it, with a lot of help from the local team, of course. It will be a challenge to manage from across the country, especially in the beginning with suppliers etc, but with technology these days, the world is actually quite small.”

“Lexi’s Cape Town will be a full-service sit-down store. It will have the same menu as the Joburg stores for now – if we need to tweak as we get to know the market, we will. We will be shipping a lot of our central kitchen stock from Joburg so the quality can be controlled across the board.”
And what about the location? Lexi’s Cape Town joins the uber-chic café hub on Sea Point’s Regent Road. The new store will be opposite Kleinsky’s Delicatessen and adjacent to Schecker’s RAW Gourmet. What a ’hood!

Lexi added: “We definitely want to expand the footprint in Cape Town … but for now we really felt that an Atlantic Seaboard presence would be the right way to kick it off.”
