The Bowery (Sandton)

Run by food entrepreneur Guy Bower, this company offers a range of services, including lunch deliveries, meal kits and ready-made dinners. Their curated grocery FoodBoxes focus on ethical free-range meat, dairy and more, all packaged in a recyclable box. They’ll also email you some meal suggestions. The size of these boxes will easily keep your household well-fed for a week, with the FoodBox Lite for two to three people including goodies such as wraps, lamb loin cubes and pasta sauce. These are available around certain areas in Johannesburg for workday delivery.

Brik Cafe (Rosebank)

Brik delivers across Johannesburg on Wednesdays and Fridays. Their curated boxes include a vegan, a vegetarian and a gluten-free option. The classic Brik box for R755 includes a little bit of everything, from sourdough and milk to ready-to-eat pulled beef brisket. Add special items to your box or pick your order completely from their pantry, which includes goodies such as sweet potato latkes, springbok carpaccio and Brik lime marmalade. There’s also a lovely gift box that has fynbos teas, coconut macaroons and natural hand sanitiser.

Red Door Cafe (Edenvale)

This coffee shop in Edenvale is dabbling in some boxes, which you can order to collect or have delivered for a fee. Their bagel box includes everything you need for a great breakfast, including cream cheese, pâté, cured meats and tomato cocktails. For something in between meals, their coffee box has two speciality coffees, cookies and milk.
