The dishes I ordered were extremely underwhelming. I had high expectations after reading reviews about the food. I had the calamari for starters and for something that was described as deep fried on the menu it come to the table looking white instead of golden brown, the calamari itself had no flavor but the tomato base which it sat on was flavorful, could’ve done without the flavorless paper thing they put on top as garnish and the colored oil. My main was the the risotto marinara and if it wasn’t for the risotto I’d honestly be giving them a 1 star. It was really the star of the show. The seafood was bland, overcooked and dry. There was a beautiful prawn on the dish that was extremely disappointing in taste and the same can be said about the mussels . The clams had this raw egg yolk taste to them that wasn’t pleasing at all. Shout out to the risotto though. For dessert I had tiramisu and it was just okay. Service was great. The lady that served us was really pleasant. They really need to take care of the preparation of their meals if they’re going to charge what they charge

Absolutely love this restaurant! It makes you feel like you’re on a street in Europe. Food is incredible and not badly priced. The panacotta is definitely a must for desert.

On February 3rd at 7 pm we ate at Modena. There was load shedding and the waitress picked up the table lamp and started hitting it as apparently hitting increases the light. She dropped the lamp onto my wife's eye glasses on the table. The glass lenses were smashed and the ear piece separated from the main frame. A manager called Deon apologized and stated that they would sort the matter out. My wife's glasses were one month old and cost R11,000. I have sent numerous requests to Modena to pay for the damage but they have continually avoided the matter and ignored my emails. I am forced to take legal action to claim the value of the glasses that the waitress effectively destroyed.
