After reading the July 18 Woolies Taste and perusing the pages full of delicious and tantalizing recipes, ideas, and superb new restaurants to check out. Our mouths were literally watering at the sight of this cute little gem upon reading the article written about Coalition. Or so we thought. We couldn't wait to try them out. The menu looked amaze-balls, minimal and simplistic ingredients. The phrase "KISS" comes to mind. Simple, tasty and good looking were my expectations going in. However, after arriving, and taking in the place, we had to look around for the attention of one of the 2 or 3 waiters, who were all but non existent, as the restaurant had one other table of patrons, so the place was pretty much dead. Yet the staff had to be found, once found though, they were very apologetic. Alas, throughout our stay when a waiter was needed, one was never around, and was very difficult to get the attention of. I would hate to think how the restaurant copes when they are busy and the waiters are spinning. So, of course, we ordered a pizza. The pizza was burnt on the outside and under cooked in the middle, such a shame as it looked to have so much potential. Biting into charcoal on the outside and soggy dough on the inside made for a somewhat sub par meal. The Joburg made beer was tasty and the service (when we had it) was friendly.
