As Greek As it Gets (Cullinan)

Stavros Vladislavic cooks insanely delicious Greek food in Cullinan. It may feel odd to drive out to a little mining village to get great food but the charm, personality and atmosphere of this delightful restaurant shines almost as brightly as the Cullinan diamond. On Monday and Thursday evenings As Greek As It Gets offers a two-for-one special on any bottle of wine for the next couple of weeks – phone ahead to confirm. Enjoy the good life with a bottle of Springfield ‘Life from Stone’ to accompany some of the best homemade dolmades, aubergine with feta and salsa, and chicken bourekia.

Café Bugatti (Brooklyn Mall)

Right on the corner of one of the busiest intersections of the Brooklyn Mall, on your way to the movies, is this lovely little restaurant. Buy one of the new signature gourmet pizzas and get a second one free. The Gourmet Snoek on a Hook Pizza (R90) is inspired by the West coast, where smoked snoek, moskonfyt and bread baked on an open fire takes you back to simpler times. It has an element of nostalgia and gives pizza a unique South-African twist. This deal is available every day until 30 June 2018.

DK Burger (Waterkloof Ridge)

Few things are better than a gourmet burger deal, especially when the options include a burger like the one here featuring lamb patties, olive tapenade, rosemary aioli, rocket and red onion marmalade. On Tuesday evenings, purchase any of their seven or so gourmet burgers and get a second one for free. These span the range from Wagyu and venison (served with meebos chutney, crisp bacon and rocket), to a slightly simpler beef burger (still made with the best quality free-range meat), as well as salmon, chicken and veggie burgers.

Ed’s Diner (Morelata Park)

Ed’s Diner remains the quintessential American diner, as famous for its retro interior as it is for burgers and milkshakes. In addition to a daily two-for-one drinks special during cocktail hour, Ed’s Diner also has a Monday to Friday pizza special where you pay for one but get two of the same. Try the Tricolore pizza or the Donatello with roasted peppers and mushrooms.

Forti Grill and Bar (Menlyn Maine)

Monday and Tuesday evenings are date nights at Forti, where it’s possible for young couples in love to have a great but affordable dinner experience. Forti offers any two pasta dishes and a bottle of Leopard’s Leap wine for R300. Since the average price for a pasta at Forti Grill and Bar is around R160, this is a good deal.

Oasis Restaurant (Arcadia)

This hotel restaurant, right in the centre of Pretoria, always sees a steady stream of tourists and visitors. On Saturday 31 March 2018 it’s offering its buffet – which usually costs R210 per person – at the incredible cost of R210 for two. The buffet includes an array of hot and cold starters, a yummy carvery roast, casseroles, stir-fries, curries, vegetarian offerings, pasta dishes and salads. To end, dessert includes homemade malva pudding and custard.

Villa San Giovanni (Wonderboom Airport)

This branch of Villa San Giovanni runs a pasta and pizza special all day on Monday comprising two for the price of one. There’s also a Bombay Sapphire cocktail special currently running with the same restrictions, so one can go for a delicious gin cocktail and an early pizza dinner, and get another of both for free this runs from Monday to Thursday, from 4pm to 6pm. Try the ricotta cannelloni or the cappelli with Gorgonzola. Pizzas include the Troia pizza with bacon, feta, spinach and avocado, and the signature Wonderboom pizza.
