Heads up, budding cooks: Renowned Cape Town chefs Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss of Greenhouse at The Cellars-Hohenhort are offering an opportunity for culinary enthusiasts to become a chef for a day at the restaurant between the months of August and December 2017. The exciting programme is aimed at giving food lovers the chance to experience first-hand what it takes to work in a top kitchen, followed by a rewarding meal at Greenhouse Restaurant.
The experience will comprise a half or full day at various food preparation stations within Greenhouse’s kitchen, where participants will have the chance to prepare multiple award-winning dishes whilst learning professional skills and techniques such as basic kitchen prep, foraging and herb identification, wine pairing, plating, and a dinner or lunch service. After some hard labour and working up a hunger by learning and observing, the chefs-in-the-making will be rewarded by either a four-course lunch or a 12-course dinner at Greenhouse.
Who can take part? This programme is ideal for foodie friends or couples who want to hone their fine-dining skills, or for young future chefs who would like to experience life in a professional kitchen. There are two spaces available for this highly personalised and hands-on kitchen experience on a Friday and a Saturday from August to December.
The cost per person is R1 600 for a half-day and R2 400 for full day. Booking can be made via reservations@greenhouserestaurant.co.za.
