Partner content: Over 30 tapas to taste at Rockets in Bryanston

Rockets may be Bryanston’s brand-new four-storey venue, kitted out with multiple areas for different functions, but it’s about much more than just the décor or party vibe. Chefs Gino Fortune and Courtney Horne serve up a huge selection of dishes – no matter your preference, you will find something to love. The menu is also right on trend with its huge focus on tapas.

Meat lovers can go for the pulled beef brisket sliders topped with emmenthal cheese and crispy bacon and accompanied by parmesan fries, or enjoy the traditional beef trinchado served in a red wine sauce with a crusty prego roll. Another Portuguese classic is the mini espetada tapa, served with roasted potato wedges. Continue your culinary trip around the world with Marrakesh lamb kebabs served with a garlic flatbread, hummus and tzatziki. Or try their chipotle quesadilla: cajun-spiced chicken, chipotle sauce and melted mozzarella in a crisp tortilla. If you love hot wings, opt for the ultra-hot deep-fried wings basted in habanero and served with blue-cheese aioli and celery.

Vegetarians are well taken care of at Rockets with the popular golden-fried halloumi sticks with sweet chilli sauce; the crumbed olives wrapped in peppered chevin goat’s cheese; or, if in the mood for something spicy, deep-fried jalapeño poppers stuffed with mozzarella, feta and cream cheese, and served with a roasted garlic chipotle mayonnaise. There’s also focaccia, nachos, and vegetarian spring rolls – you’d be hard pressed to manage them all, but it’s worth a try.

And that’s just the beginning. Rockets also has an Advanced Tapas section of the menu, which includes beef tataki, sea-bass ceviche and baked camembert served with tortilla chips. Also popular, especially with the banting crowd, is the Tastes of Cauliflower, in which the versatile vegetable is done four different ways: puréed, deep fried, caramelised and paired with cheese as a roll-up.

Tapas isn’t the only feature on the Rockets menu, though. Other mains include pizzas, pork belly, the Chicken Supreme, and the Green Goddess pasta, a vegetarian pasta filled with vegetables and topped with basil.

When you’re ready to finish off with something sweet, there’s the likes of granadilla cheesecake, several sorbets, and a Chocolate Bomb, which is salted-caramel ice cream encased in a chocolate ball that is melted away by hot caramel sauce.
