Last week we announced the frankly thrilling news that Luke Dale Roberts will be bringing a pop-up version of famed Cape Town restaurant The Pot Luck Club to Joburg this July.
The pop-up will run from 6 July until the end of September at Marabi Club at Hallmark House in Maboneng. Marabi, a handsome speakeasy-style space with live music, is named for a style of jazz that evolved in the early 1900s – a fusion of local and global styles. (A cover charge will apply after a certain hour for music lovers who plan to stay late into the evening to enjoy the headline acts.)
As for the menu, it will feature some of the Woodstock location’s favourites: panko-crusted octopus with doenjang mayo; fillet in café au lait sauce (trust us, you need to try this one), and beef tataki with hoisin dressing, coriander pesto and ponzu mayo.
“We’ve also created a few dishes that will be unique to the Marabi Club”, says Luke, among them, duck spring rolls and a rebooted classic Cuban sandwich.
Both Luke and The Pot Luck Club head chef Frederico Dias will be in attendance to get things running smoothly.
Online bookings are yet to go live, but bookings over email are now open. Email thepotluckclub@marabijazz.com.
The restaurant will be open for dinner from Thursday to Saturday and for lunch on Sunday.
Fastest fingers first!
