Col’Cacchio pizzeria will be introducing a new menu this month, with some spicy additions.
Brand-new dishes include the Affumicato pasta with spicy pulled ribs in a creamy TABASCO® Chipotle sauce, topped with julienned carrots and coriander; the Asiatico salad with lettuce, broccoli, spiralised carrots, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, Italian parmesan, cucumber, TABASCO® Green Jalapeño Pepper sauce and ponzu dressing; and the La Mela salad with spinach, lettuce, shaved fennel, shaved apple, cranberries, hazelnuts, TABASCO® Green Jalapeño Pepper sauce and truffle dressing.
Non-spicy additions to the menu include a vegan margherita pizza with a tomato base, herbs and dairy-free cheese – also a great choice for the lactose intolerant. Customers will be able to build their own pizzas using the vegan margherita as a base, or request vegan cheese on existing pizzas at an additional cost.
New to the drinks menu is an Aperol spritz, the orange-hued spirit with bubbles and soda water, and on the sweet side, there will be deconstructed lemon meringue and profiteroles with a whipped cream centre. Kids will love the new cheesy spag spiders with chicken-cheese sausage threaded with spaghetti, pomodoro sauce, cheesy béchamel sauce, breadcrumbs and Italian parmesan.
2016’s Celebrity Chef series also kicks off this month with three new pizzas. Launched in 2009, The Col’Cacchio pizzeria initiative has raised over R1,8 million for charitable causes through the R5 donation from the sale of each celebrity chef pizza. The 2016/17 edition of the campaign will see the Italian-inspired eatery collaborating with celeb chefs Zola Nene, Neill Anthony and Claire Allen to deliver a new range of limited edition gourmet pizzas. The Phat Cat with beef bolognaise, a creamy béchamel sauce and mozzarella; The Private Chef with a crème fraîche and spinach base, mozzarella, marinated Asian chicken topped with a truffle-infused mayonnaise, crispy leeks, basil and Italian parmesan shavings; and the Don Salsa with a tomato base, pulled barbecue chicken, mozzarella, smoked mozzarella, corn-and-avocado salsa and TABASCO® Chipotle sauce.
Funds raised through the 2016/17 campaign will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust, fundraiser for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, which treats children from around the country and all over Africa.
The Celebrity Chefs Series and new summer menu will be available at all Col’Cacchio pizzeria stores across South Africa from November 2016 to April 2017.
