So, yet another 'American' food joint has planted it's roots in Cape Town... And I am super excited! After numerous times of driving past and seeing the long queues, I decided to get up early and make my way there at 7 this morning. Still greeted by a queue, behind people wishing to get their donut and coffee fix, I waited for about 30 minutes before getting to the front. Knowing that the joint it still fairly new and the staff still getting used to the hustle and bustle of the bug crowds filtering through, I understand why the service may seem slow. You get to the till and have your choice of 1, 6 or a dozen donuts. There is a wide variety of donut flavours and there is definitely something for every sweet tooth, ranging from plain to filled to the brim creamy filling. Besides selying donuts, they sell wraps, croissants, muffins and bagels. Their menu also changes from breakfast through to supper. They also have a wide variety of drinks available. Hot drinks go from normal in house brew coffee, cappuccino, espresso and all the way to dirty chai tea. They also have a wide variety of cold drinks from Iced coffee through to Fruit juices. Service could be faster, but like I mentioned it could just be the fact that they are relatively new and have only been at it for about 2 weeks. The baristas could also make their coffee a bit hotter as my dirty chai was more Luke warm to cold. Ambience: Not fantastic. The shop is small (as any bakery usually is) does not always feel welcoming and it feels that their main goal is just to push customers out. Music was a bit too soft, so everyone's conversations were being mingled into one. Felt a bit irritated by this. Ultimately those expecting anything more than donuts and coffee have a small menu to choose from (Hence the name: Dunkin' donuts... duh) All in all, it's an experience worth having. I bought the dozen donuts and shared among my family and we all agree that the donuts are scrumptious! They're freshly baked and not overly sweet. Their combinations are well thought through and the filling compliment the icing on top. They'll definitely be seeing me again!
