It was with great anticipation that we sat down in the back garden of this beautiful little shop in Paternoster. After reading several great reviews about Kobus's unique weskus-inspire food, we were happy to pay the R295pp for the set menu lunch. The mussels starter was something special, as well as the homemade ice cream and fruit salad. We were a bit let down by the main course. Initially it would have been Kabeljou, but turned out to be two very small portions of Angelfish served on a blob of mash with a flavorful scoop of sambals on the side. I am all for a plain understated plate of food, especially in the Weskus, but when the bill ends up close to R700 for two people for lunch, I expect a little bit more. It might just be that we caught them on an off day. The starter and dessert were enough to convince me about the raving reviews of this eatery.
