issapointing experience. We booked a table for 5 people as part of restaurant week. However, when we arrived we were told that our choices were limited to the three most boring options on the menu. So we ordered à la carte. The truffle gnocchi had absolutely no truffle flavour and the salmon starter was literally three bites worth of salmon. Two of us ordered our fillet rare, only to have it served medium. It was also a tiny portion. We shared the chocolate desert, some of it was much too sweet and some bitter- but not the dark chocolate bitter. When the bill came we were absolutely shocked by nearly 600/head - nearly the price of pot luck club but not evenly remotely comparable. My P's pinot noir was R300/ bottle, compared to roughly R 150 at some of our favourite bars. If we hadnt been so observant, we would have missed that they charged us for three bottles instead of two. When my boyfriend went to the bathroom (that had one ply toilet paper) he was asked by one of the waiters to please tip in cash! Completely unprofessional and left us feeling rather cheesed off. As were the last seated at the restaurant we were then asked to leave our table to sit at the bar (it was 11pm). I was still hungry when we got home, and so dissapointed by the experience. At least we had great company!
