Fans can order from the menus at Lefty’s and its upstairs sibling, Downtown Ramen. “It’s ramen, burgers, bao… basically everything except for the slow-cooked Texas barbecue items like the smoked brisket; they don’t travel well,” says Lefty’s owner Ryan McDonagh. The menu includes popular buttermilk-battered fried chicken ’n waffles with bacon and maple syrup, wood-fired pizzas, and sandwiches with pickles and tasty toppings.

If you live anywhere in the Cape Town city bowl, from Zonnebloem up to De Waterkant area, and everything between, including Tamboerskloof, Oranjezicht, Higgovale, Gardens etc., you’re in luck. “Well, that’s for the beginning, while we’re finding our feet. The team has begun marketing the deliveries very gently, telling sit-down customers about the service as they’re paying their bills, and doing some menu drops in post boxes in the City Bowl. Ryan says they’re taking it slowly for now; they want to ensure the Lefty’s experience makes its way to people at home – and that it’s a good one.
