UK news agency The Telegraph has released its 2016 list of the best coffee shops in the world. The list of 13 international spots includes the likes of Café Central in Austria, Workshop Coffee in London, Coffee Academics in Hong Kong, and South Africa’s very own steampunk-themed Truth Coffee Roasting sitting proudly in the number-one spot.
Writes The Telegraph, “There are few cafes in the world as stunning as Truth, a ‘steampunk inspired’ artisan coffee shop that is filled from top to bottom with metal piping and quirky old machinery. But people don’t just flock there for the decor – the coffee is all hand-roasted in a vintage cast-iron drum, and the company supplies many of South Africa’s top hotels.”
The eclectic Buitenkant Street roastery also won a highly commended prize in the coffee shop category at the 2015 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Best Everyday Eateries for the Western Cape, and was nominated for the Boschendal Style Award at the 2015 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards.
A huge congratulations to the Truth team for making SA proud, one flat white at a time.
