Dapper Coffee Co., the latest eatery and coffee spot to hit the Mother City’s busy Bree Street, has opened alongside new luxury sports car showroom, Club9. Together they offer a space where classic car enthusiasts and city dwellers can roll in for coffee, enjoy a laid-back lunch, have their wheels polished and possibly even purchase a Porsche on their way out.
Dapper Coffee Co. is the brainchild of family team Dirk, Lauren and Alex Molsen, with Dirk being the car-fundi and Alex running the foodie side of things. The slick interior, designed by Toni Unterberger from Rivets and Rockets, offers a space for a quick breakfast or leisurely lunch by chef Luke Wonnacott, who has previous experience at Gordon Ramsay at One&Only Cape Town, Societi Bistro and The Mount Nelson. The menu is based on local and seasonal delights, and will feature dishes like mushrooms on brioche toast with radish and watercress salad, or slow-stewed chickpeas on toasted sourdough, topped with poached egg and crispy pancetta. As for the beans, the brew is Dapper Coffee Co.’s special blend coffee from the team over at Tribe Coffee.
The drinks selection will include an interesting range of wines by the glass such as Le Lude MCC, Stony Brook, and Ormonde. The craft beer offering will be concise, but with some popular sippers such as Jack Black and Devil’s Peak.
Those who are looking for a shiny set of wheels can enjoy perusing the Club9 space while sipping on their morning cuppa. Owned by seasoned car collector and specialist Dirk Molsen, the showroom will feature mostly classic Porsche models. What’s more, the neighbouring Dutchmen Car Care Clinic offers a specialised car detailing service inside the shop, so your precious collectible wheels can be polished and spruced up while you’re enjoying your morning eggs.
Dapper Coffee Co. is open from 7am to 5pm on weekdays and 8am to 3pm on Saturdays. The café and showroom is also open on First Thursdays until late.
