Situated along Kloof Nek Road in Tamboerskloof, Cape Town is the laid-back and always-busy Rafiki’s Bar. This Mother City favourite will sadly be closing its doors at the beginning of next year’s winter season.
A popular spot for music, dancing, watching sport, enjoying cocktail specials and unpretentious pub grub (let’s not forget the pizzas), this city stalwart has garnered something of a cult following since it opened way back in 2000. Come June 2016, Kloof Nek locals will need to start hunting for their next go-to watering hole and bid farewell to this popular Mother City icon.
But before you start drowning your sorrows, do remember Rafiki’s will remain open and pumping until the very last. Be sure to grab your spot on the balcony and take advantage of its famous specials, including half-price pizza on Mondays, half-price Mexican food and drinks on Wednesdays, prize nights on Thursdays and, of course, half-price cocktails on Sundays.
UPDATE: Rafiki’s have revealed that they’ll be reopening in a new venue in Malawi. Click here to read more.
Any chance of telling us why is it closing?
But why? How can it be?
Why are they closing? What will be opening in it’s place? Perhaps a comment from the owners? This story lacks substance :/
No details though?! Need more space for another outrageously priced restuarant?
