No plans this weekend? Venture out to one of these exciting food, craft beer and wine festivals that are taking place over the next few days.
Consol Craft Revolution (Montecasino)
This year’s Consol Craft Revolution will kick off on Saturday 8 August at Montecasino in Johannesburg, promising festivalgoers a range of local craft beers, liquors and street food.
The lineup of breweries includes some well-known names like Mitchell’s Brewery and Robson’s Real Beer, plus newer kids on the block like Two Okes, and Brewhogs. Foodies can enjoy burgers from Hogshead, succulent ribs from BRM and slow-cooked brisket sarmies from The Barking Dog Smokehouse.
You can purchase tickets to Consol Craft Revolution via iTickets for R80 per adult, or for R180 (including a glass and R100 Castros, the festival’s currency).
Boschendal Roving Dinner
Guests can enjoy drinks and a three-course dinner spread over four different venues on the historical and beautiful Boschendal Farm on Saturday 8 August. Diners will be able to ‘rove’ with executive chef Christiaan Campbell as he shares his passion for farm-to-table food.
The cost is R450 per person and tickets are limited. Reservations are essential. Contact reservations@boschendal.co.za or 021 870 4274.
Hermanus Wine & Food Fair
The 18th Hermanus Food and Wine Festival is taking place this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Hemel-en-Aarde Village.
Showcasing wines and produce from the region and plenty of entertainment, the festival will also feature food trucks and local restaurateurs serving up delicious dishes on the go. The kids are welcome and can enjoy themselves in a special activity zone.
Tickets are available at the door or via Computicket. A day pass is R150 and a weekend pass is R250.
Robertson Slow
Wine farms and guesthouses from Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor and Robertson will welcome visitors to their dining tables and onto their farms for a relaxing weekend-long food and wine experience.
Guests can look forward to dinners at the homes of the winemaking families, who will cook traditional Robertson country fare such as waterblommetjie bredie, milk tart and Karoo lamb. Other activities will include boat cruises, 4×4 trips through the fynbos, a guided hiking trail and brandy tastings. On Sunday 9 August visitors can enjoy the food market, where there will be music and plenty of snacks to sample and take home.
Groups will be small and intimate for each tasting, and tickets are limited, so we suggest booking no later than today. For the full programme and ticket prices, visit robertsonslow.com
