Joburg food lovers who are searching for their next LCHF fix can look forward to another banting shopping opportunity popping up in August. The Melrose Arch Banting Market will be held mid-monthly on a Sunday, with the first one taking place on 16 August 2015.
Located on The High Street at Melrose Arch, the market will allow banters and health-conscious foodies to soak up the sun in a beautiful outdoor space while shopping up a storm for their low carb, paleo, gluten-free and sugar-free goodies.
Highlights include Jackson’s Real Food Market’s calorie-conscious wraps and biltong; Ice Creamery’s sugar-free ice cream; The Cultured Cow’s banting pork crackling; and the Banting Divas’s banting-friendly cheese cake and bacon chips.
Market organiser Michelle van Scheltema, who’s also responsible for the Johannesburg Banting Market in Bedfordview, says that the markets aim to help facilitate the low-carb high-fat eating plan by connecting shoppers with fellow banters and suppliers. “JHB Banting Market shows you what banting is about; not about eating less, but rather about eating more of the right things,” she says.
For those wanting to tuck in to a healthy breakfast or lunch after their shopping spree, there are also plenty of restaurants at the centre.
You can catch the first Melrose Arch Banting Market on Sunday 16 August 2015 at The High Street, Melrose Arch, from 9am to 1pm. Entrance is free of charge.
